Conferment of institutional title is the approval granted by the NAB for institutions to carry titles protected under the provision of Act No.13 of 2006.
The NAB has the responsibility for providing authoritative advice on the criteria that institutions are required to meet to carry protected titles it wishes to carry based on quality criteria that are consistent with international practice. This process thus ensures that local institutions with the same title as those in highly developed countries, offer comparable levels of quality.
In conferring a title, the NAB bases its judgement on both quantitative and qualitative evidence provided by the institution seeking the title. These criteria are developed to provide the assurance that the institution is able to maintain high academic standards and promote public confidence in its offerings. Evaluation focuses on the institution's governance and administration, academic standards, scholarship and pedagogical effectiveness and the supporting environment for programme delivery.
